WISH YOU A HAPPY CHILDREN DAY

The birth day of 1st Prime Minister of India is celebrated throughout the nation every year as Children Day.

He was born on the 14th of November, 1889 at Allahabad and was the eldest child of Motilal Nehru and Swarup Rani. His family was from Kashmir heritage and belonged to a high Hindu caste. They were Sara swat Brahmins, who were revered greatly in Allahabad in those days. Originally part of the Kashmir Pandit community, the Nehru s had to shift to what was called United Provinces.
Nehru received most of his primary education at home with the help of several tutors and governess. It was Ferdinand Brooks who was responsible for young Nehru’s indulgence and interest in science and theology.
He came across writers like G. M. Trevelyan, Bernard Shaw, H.G Wells and J.M. Keynes. They had deep influence on him and  much of his political and economic thinking owe to them
Children Day is celebrated though out the nation on 14 th November  on his auspicious birth day as a mark of respect to him and  for his love of Children.
Jawaharlal Nehru and his entire family lived in a large house called 'Anand Bhawan' in Allahabad. The house is still there. His father, Motilal Nehru was a successful man, well known in the society. He was a barrister by profession He gave whatever was possible in his part to the Children. Nehru had two beautiful sisters named Vijay Lakshmi Pandit and Krishna Pandit. No discrimination was made between the son and daughters in the family. All of them were provided quality education and comfort.
His father wanted him to study in London. So at the age of 16, Nehru was enrolled at the Harrow School in England after which he got admission at the Trinity College, Cambridge, where he earned his honors degree in natural science.
After attaining his graduate degree, Nehru relocated to London in 1910 and enrolled himself at the Inns of Court School of Law
Nehru returned to his homeland in 1912 and started practicing law as a barrister at the Allahabad High Court. Slowly and gradually, he involved himself in national politics and joined the Gandhian Movement of freedom struggle. India got independence on 15th August,1947,and he was the 1st Prime Minister of Independent India.
Apart from being a polished and astute statesman, Nehru was immensely fond of being in the company of children. Many of his pictures show him in the company of children enjoying their presence. When children would talk to him, Nehru would listen with keen interest and concentration. It is said that once a child pinned a rose on his jacket and ever since then he started wearing a rose on his jacket. He believed that children are the future of a nation and educating children is a step towards the progress of a nation. Now  41% of our children are malnourished and the position of girls in education  though has improved,a lot is required to be done.School Drop outs due to inadequacy of fund is also still prevalent. On the occasion of Children Day,we reproduce below some inspirational thoughts:(Ref: http://festivals.iloveindia.com/childrens-day/childrens-day-message.html )
He is responsible for setting up All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences,Indian Institute of Managements and Indian Institute of Technology.
